The company started in 1977 as Wilmington Awning, Shutter & Shade on the North Carolina coast. It has stayed in business for nearly five decades by doing careful work with its own people and answering the phone after the job is done.
In February 2023 it moved south, bought Affordable Awning Systems, and opened a showroom in Myrtle Beach. Charleston was the obvious next step. Lowcountry homes deal with the same things we have built for since the beginning: hard summer sun, salt in the air, humid rooms, and a hurricane season every year. Today ShadeCoast works across the Charleston area, from downtown and Mount Pleasant to Summerville and out to Kiawah and Seabrook.

There is no Charleston showroom. Our showroom is in Myrtle Beach, so around Charleston the showroom comes to you: samples, swatch books, and a tape measure, at your house.
Every Charleston-area estimate happens on site, from Moncks Corner to Seabrook. We measure each opening, hold fabric and color samples up against your own trim and siding, and quote before we leave. It costs you nothing.
The people who hang your awning or mount your shutters work for ShadeCoast full time, carry Workers' Compensation and Liability coverage, and are not a subcontractor we found for the week.
