Full-time, in-house crews
Every install is performed by a ShadeCoast employee — never a subcontractor. Our team is fully insured with Workers' Compensation and Liability coverage, and they show up to the same job from measurement through service.
ShadeCoast is the new name and look of Affordable Awning Systems, a division of Wilmington Awning, Shutter & Shade. We've been designing, building, and installing outdoor systems on this coast since 1977 — and we're not stopping anytime soon.
Forty-seven years protecting Carolina coastal homes.
Year-round employees, never subcontracted out.
Workers' Comp + Liability on every install.
The same shop is here when you need it five years later.
Wilmington Awning, Shutter & Shade opened its doors on the North Carolina coast in 1977, building a reputation across nearly five decades for craftsmanship, honesty, and an in-house team that doesn't disappear after the install.
In February 2023, the company expanded south — acquiring Affordable Awning Systems and opening a Myrtle Beach showroom to serve the Grand Strand and Lowcountry. Same family, same crews, same standards — now from Wilmington to Savannah.
"We rebranded as ShadeCoast to reflect what we actually do — design and install the systems that make coastal homes livable. Not just affordable awnings."

Every install is performed by a ShadeCoast employee — never a subcontractor. Our team is fully insured with Workers' Compensation and Liability coverage, and they show up to the same job from measurement through service.
We don't sell what works in the Midwest. Every awning, shutter, screen, and fabric in our lineup has been vetted for salt air, UV intensity, and wind loads on this coast.
Five years from now, when something needs an adjustment, the same shop is still here. Service and repair work are part of the deal — not a sales call.
The ShadeCoast process is built around the same in-house team handling every step — so nothing falls through the cracks and there's never a "let me check with someone else."
Call, email, or schedule online — whichever is easiest for you.
An experienced consultant visits your property to listen and measure.
Honest product, fabric, and color recommendations matched to your home.
Built to spec, installed by full-time ShadeCoast crews.
Two showrooms, one team, and crews that work the entire coast — from Wilmington and the Outer Banks down through the Grand Strand, the Lowcountry, and into the Georgia coast.
From the fabric workroom to the showroom floor — our crews are trained, full-time, and year-round.
If you have a coastal home, a porch, a pergola, or a project you're trying to figure out — call us. Free estimate, no pressure, decades of advice.
